The College Financial Representative internship program at Northwestern Mutual offers a structured environment for students to build an integrated financial planning practice from the ground up. Interns receive guidance, connection, and a framework to develop their skills, engaging with local and nationwide experts, exclusive financial products, and the robust support of a Fortune 500 company. This program is designed to help participants build confidence, expand their professional network, and empower individuals to achieve financial freedom. Hard work is directly rewarded in this role.

Our internship program mirrors the full-time Financial Representative career, allowing you to:

  • Learn how to prospect and network to build your business and client base.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy.
  • Call on potential clients and set meetings to understand their financial goals.
  • Prepare detailed financial plans and offer useful recommendations.
  • Gain exposure to proprietary planning software platforms.
  • Engage in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Receive support for Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Build essential life skills that create future career opportunities.

  • Academic Status: Full-time student; juniors and seniors preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Performance-Based Earnings: Revenue and compensation tied to individual performance.
  • Learning and Development Incentives: Up to $1000/month (not inclusive of earned commissions).
  • Productivity Bonuses.
  • Licensing Support: Support for insurance licensing (life, health, DI, LTC).
  • Registration Support: Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /month.
