Responsibilities:
This internship program closely mirrors the full-time Financial Representative career, providing interns with the opportunity to:

  • Learn effective prospecting and networking strategies to build a business and client base.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan.
  • Proactively reach out to potential clients and schedule meetings to understand their financial goals.
  • Prepare tailored financial plans and provide useful recommendations.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
  • Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Receive support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Develop valuable life skills that enhance future career opportunities.

As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you can expect a flexible schedule designed to accommodate your academic life. The internship program can be participated in year-round, allowing continuous growth. The company provides support for various registrations and certifications, including the SIE, Series 6 & 63, or CFP® (eligibility required). Interns can get inspired at local and national recognition events, gain access to leadership development programs, and collaborate with industry experts. A diverse range of resources ensures personal and professional growth throughout the program. Eligible students demonstrating interest may have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

  • Full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.

  • Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Performance-based earnings and revenue.
  • Learning and Development Incentives (up to $1000/month, not inclusive of earned commissions).
  • Productivity Bonuses.

  • Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr. (This range typically refers to the monthly Learning & Development Incentives and does not include earned commissions or productivity bonuses.)

Should an offer to apply for approval of an intern contract be extended, a national criminal background check is required.
