Key Responsibilities

Our internship program is structured to mirror the experience of a full-time Financial Representative career, offering practical, hands-on learning. As an intern, you will:

  • Learn Prospecting & Networking: Master strategies to build your business and client base.
  • Develop Business Strategy: Create and execute a personal business strategy.
  • Client Acquisition & Goal Assessment: Proactively call on potential clients and set meetings to understand their financial goals.
  • Financial Plan Preparation & Recommendations: Prepare tailored financial plans and offer useful, data-driven recommendations.
  • Proprietary Software Exposure: Gain hands-on experience with Northwestern Mutual’s proprietary planning software platforms.
  • Weekly Coaching & Development: Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • State Licensing Acquisition: Receive support and training to obtain Risk Product State Licensing in Life, Accident, and Health.

  • Full-time Student: Juniors and seniors are preferred.

  • Campus Involvement & Leadership: Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
