• Learn how to prospect and network effectively to build your business and client base.
• Develop and execute a robust business strategy.
• Proactively call on potential clients and set meetings to understand their unique financial goals.
• Prepare tailored financial plans and offer useful recommendations.
• Gain exposure to proprietary planning software platforms.
• Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
• Receive support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
• Develop essential life skills that will create future career opportunities.

As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you can expect a flexible schedule designed to accommodate your academic commitments. The program offers the option to participate year-round, allowing you to continually grow your practice and receive support for additional registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. Interns are inspired at local and national recognition events, gain access to leadership programs, and collaborate with industry experts. Eligible students also have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

• Full-time student status; juniors and seniors are preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

This performance-driven internship offers a competitive structure:

• Performance-based earnings and revenue.
• Learning and Development Incentives (up to $1000/month, not inclusive of earned commissions).

Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are considered Independent Contractors for income tax purposes and “statutory employees” for Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax purposes. Income is based on production. Approval for an intern contract requires a national criminal background check. Should the background check results provide information that would not allow someone to work for Northwestern Mutual, approval to contract will be withdrawn.

Salary Range:

USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
