The College Financial Representative Internship Program:
This internship program closely mirrors our full-time Financial Representative career, offering a hands-on experience in the financial planning industry. It provides a flexible schedule to accommodate your academic life and allows for year-round participation to continuously grow your practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn and apply prospecting and networking strategies to build your business and client base.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy.
• Proactively call on potential clients and schedule meetings to understand their financial goals.
• Prepare personalized financial plans and offer actionable recommendations.
• Gain exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
• Actively participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.

Qualifications:

• Must be a full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

Performance-based earnings and revenue.
Learning and Development Incentives: Up to $1000 per month (not inclusive of earned commissions).
Productivity Bonuses.
Licensing Support: Financial support for insurance licensing (life, health, DI, LTC).
Registration Support: Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Important Considerations:
Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are valued partners and proud business owners. As such, they are considered independent contractors for income tax purposes and “statutory employees” for Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax purposes. Approval for an intern contract to become a College Financial Representative requires a national criminal background check. If the background check results contain information that would prevent employment with Northwestern Mutual, approval to contract will be withdrawn.

Salary Range:
USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
