Responsibilities

Mimicking a full-time Financial Representative career, this internship allows you to:

  • Learn essential skills in prospecting and networking to build your business and client base.
  • Develop and execute on a comprehensive business strategy.
  • Engage with potential clients to understand their financial goals through proactive outreach and meetings.
  • Prepare detailed financial plans and offer useful, personalized recommendations.
  • Gain exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
  • Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Receive support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Build valuable life skills that create diverse future career opportunities.

Qualifications

Are you a fit for this internship? We are looking for individuals who are:

  • A full-time student; juniors and seniors preferred.
  • Possess entrepreneurial ambitions and a genuine curiosity for sales.
  • Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
  • Have a strong interest in financial literacy and planning tools.
  • Exhibit business savvy and a desire to increase critical thinking abilities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Performance-based earnings and revenue.

Should you be offered an intern contract, a national criminal background check is required. Approval to contract will be withdrawn if the background check results provide information that would prevent working for Northwestern Mutual.

Salary Range

USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr. (Performance-based, not inclusive of earned commissions and other incentives.)
