Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities:

This internship mirrors the experience of a full-time Financial Representative, providing a robust learning environment where you will:
Business Development: Learn and apply prospecting and networking strategies to build your own business and client base.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a personal business strategy.
Client Engagement: Initiate contact with potential clients, set meetings, and conduct needs analyses to understand their financial goals.
Financial Recommendations: Prepare tailored financial plans and offer useful, actionable recommendations.
Software Exposure: Gain hands-on experience with proprietary financial planning software platforms.
Continuous Development: Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings to refine your skills.
Licensing & Certification:
• Receive support for obtaining Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
• Eligible students can receive support for SIE, Series 6, and Series 63 registrations.
• Year-round interns can pursue support for CFP® certification.

Important Note on Employment Status:

Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representatives are considered Independent Contractors for income tax purposes, with income based on production. For Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax purposes, they are considered a “statutory employee.” A national criminal background check is required for approval to contract as a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative.

Salary Range:

USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr. (This range pertains to learning and development incentives, not inclusive of earned commissions and productivity bonuses.)
