Responsibilities:

This internship closely mirrors the responsibilities of a full-time Financial Representative, enabling interns to:

Learn and implement prospecting and networking strategies to build a business and client base.
Develop and execute a personal business strategy.
Proactively contact potential clients and schedule meetings to understand their financial goals.
Prepare personalized financial plans and provide valuable recommendations.
• Gain hands-on exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
• Actively participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
• Receive support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing (Life, Accident, and Health).
• Cultivate essential life skills that pave the way for future career opportunities.

Interns can expect a flexible schedule designed to accommodate their academic and personal lives, with the option for year-round participation. Continuous growth is supported through assistance with registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. The program also offers access to local and national recognition events, leadership programs, and collaboration with industry experts, fostering both personal and professional growth. Eligible students have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

Qualifications:

Northwestern Mutual is looking for candidates who are:

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student, with a preference for juniors and seniors.
• Possess entrepreneurial ambitions and a strong curiosity for sales.
Highly involved on campus (e.g., leaders, athletes, campus organization members, student government participants).
• Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
• Show a genuine interest in financial literacy and planning tools.
• Exhibit business savvy and a desire to enhance their critical thinking abilities.

Compensation & Benefits:

This internship offers a rewarding structure including:

Performance-based earnings and revenue.
Learning and Development Incentives (up to $1000/month, *not inclusive of earned commissions*).
Productivity Bonuses.
• Comprehensive support for insurance licensing (Life, Health, Disability Income, Long-Term Care).
• Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).
Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
