Job Description: CNN Newsgathering Internships:

WBD is offering multiple paid CNN Newsgathering Internships in the Atlanta area. The internships are hybrid, requiring regular in-office presence based on the intern manager’s schedule. The application covers several internship opportunities within CNN Newsgathering, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities (may vary by specific role):

Interns will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of news production, including:

• Pitching story ideas.
• Daily research for scripts.
• Video editing for news segments.
• Assisting in producing news packages and segments for daily shows.
• Contributing to daily news shows.
• Gathering and publishing daily news content (national and regional).
• Writing scripts for broadcast news programming.
• Creating original packages for affiliate newscasts and websites.
• Curating and clearing images for wire articles.
• Gathering regional news stories and content from and for affiliates.
• Publishing affiliate links on the CNN.com U.S. page.
• Using social media to promote content and services.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential Requirements:
• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university degree program for the internship duration (proof required).
• Rising junior or senior undergraduate student (18 years or older).
• Academic good standing (3.0 GPA or above – transcript required if offered a position).
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
• Experience with Adobe Premiere.
• Understanding of creating rundowns.
• Basic script formatting knowledge.
• Strong editorial judgment.
• Production experience (video and writing).
• Interest in all aspects of digital and broadcast news media.
• High energy, self-motivation, ability to multitask, positive attitude, technical proficiency, strong online/social media skills, ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent writing skills and attention to detail.
• Stellar customer service and teamwork skills.

Internship Details:

Duration: 11 weeks.
Start Dates: Option 1: June 2nd; Option 2: June 9th.
Hours: 35-40 hours per week (hybrid).
Compensation: Paid internship with a competitive hourly wage.
Credit: Not required, but documentation for school credit can be provided if needed.
Relocation: Not provided.
Interviewing: February – mid-April.
