Job Description: CNN Desk Newsgathering Intern (DC – Summer 2025)
This internship is based in the Washington, D.C. area and requires regular in-office presence aligned with the intern manager’s schedule. The intern will contribute to CNN’s DC Newsgathering team, a vital part of the network’s news production. This team is responsible for daily news coverage and breaking news reporting on various DC-related beats, including the Presidency, Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, and federal agencies.
Responsibilities include:
• Research and fact-checking
• Tape logging
• Assistance with interviews
• Location stakeouts
• Other editorial/production activities and administrative duties as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
• Major in Broadcast Journalism, Media, or Communications
• Strong current events knowledge and interest in news and politics
• Familiarity with CNN’s news platforms (network shows, website) is beneficial
• Motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively under deadlines
• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university for the internship duration (proof required)
• Rising junior or senior (18 years or older)
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship.
Additional Details:
• Internship duration: 11 weeks (two options for start/end dates: June 2nd – August 15th or June 9th – August 22nd)
• Hours: 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
• Compensation: Paid internship with a competitive hourly wage ($19/hour USD for undergrad interns).
• Credit: Not required, but documentation for school credit will be provided if needed.
• Relocation: Not provided.
• Interviewing period: February through mid-April.
