Deal Administrator – Collateralized Loan Obligation | U.S. Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at U.S. Bank, located in Chicago, IL. U.S. Bank Global Corporate Trust Services is a leading provider of corporate trust services worldwide, offering clients essential trustee, agency, escrow, and document custody solutions across 48 domestic and three international offices. This role is within the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Group, a specialized division focused on structured finance vehicles that issue debt and equity to acquire diverse portfolios like syndicated bank loans and corporate bonds. As a Deal Administrator, this position is crucial for the seamless operation of these complex CLO portfolios, ensuring all daily operational work, from cash tracking to trade settlement, is executed with precision and timeliness.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Ensure CLO portfolios run smoothly by handling day-to-day operational work, tracking cash and par positions, settling trades, and reconciling accounts accurately.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Contact: Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) clients, performing frontline administration and ensuring accuracy.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile cash, asset positions, and portfolio activity across various accounts, applying and processing wires for cash inflows and outflows.
• Trade Management: Settle bank loan and bond trades, managing the full trade lifecycle activity to ensure all portfolio transactions are accurate and complete.
• Reporting & Analysis: Produce and distribute daily, monthly, and quarterly client and investor reports, and track asset attributes including accruals, ratings, and industry classifications.
• Client Communication: Communicate regularly with clients, portfolio managers, middle office teams, agents, and law firms, while identifying and resolving operational exceptions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field, or equivalent work experience, qualifying for an entry-level position.
• Experience: Candidates with 0-5+ years of relevant work experience will be considered, with the lowest level typically requiring less than two years of experience in financial operations.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and strong computer navigation across Microsoft Office applications.
• Bonus: A basic understanding of indenture documentation and analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and clients simultaneously, and high stress tolerance and resilience in a deadline-driven environment.
