About the Job
Pastoral Care at Hillsborough Hospital is hiring a Clinical Pastoral Educator Specialist to join their team! The Clinical Pastoral Educator Specialist supervises Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE) accredited programs of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), including:
• Reviewing applications
• Conducting admission interviews
• Admitting interns and residents
• Program planning
• Individual and group supervision
• Final written evaluations
The primary responsibilities are to develop and design CPE programs (all accredited levels) and utilize institutional outside resources for specialty content. The Clinical Pastoral Educator Specialist provides spiritual care for UNC hospitals in Hillsborough and runs the intern education program.
Responsibilities
• Assume departmental and/or institutional responsibilities (e.g., committee participation) as assigned. Handle administrative responsibilities for department in director’s absence.
• Program Development–Develop and design CPE curriculum and programs, respond to consumer feedback and changes to ACPE accreditation requirements.
• Provide direct pastoral care in accordance with professional code of ethics. Provide back-up coverage in rotation with other chaplains.
• Education of intern CPE units–review applications, conduct admission interviews, plan units, supervise individuals and groups and complete final written evaluations
• Education of resident CPE units–review applications, conduct admission interviews, plan units, supervise individuals and groups and complete final written evaluations
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or university.
• Graduation from accredited college and seminary with necessary units of ACPE CPE and endorsement.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Must be certified as an Educator by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) or Certified Educator Candidate in Phase II in the ACPE certification process with certification obtained within 12 months of hire.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• Prior pastoral experience in hospital setting and/or faith community is preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to provide spiritual care to patients and families from diverse backgrounds
• Knowledge of ACPE standards and guidelines
