Job Description:

Centerstone’s clinical internship program in Illinois welcomes qualified master’s level students in social work, counseling, art therapy, music therapy, and related fields who have completed most of their coursework and have been approved for field experience. As a teaching clinic, Centerstone aims to develop reflective and effective clinicians through a team-based approach to recovery and internships.

Internship Details:

Team Approach: Interns work with clinical staff as supervisors and mentors and participate on multidisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, social workers, recovery support specialists, and counselors).
Learning Opportunities: Engage in multidisciplinary teams, employee resource groups for cultural humility and social justice ethics.

Stipend: A nominal stipend is offered to help with costs. Acceptance as an intern does not guarantee the stipend or future employment.
An internship can be viewed as an extended job interview.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrolled in a master’s level program (social work, counseling, art therapy, music therapy, or related)
• Completed most academic coursework
• Approved by university staff for field experience

• Effective communication (written, verbal, virtual).
• Familiarity with basic helping skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain an organized work environment.
• Maintain confidentiality (remote and in-person).
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective teamwork and independent work.
• Adaptability in learning situations.
• An initial learning plan and understanding of strengths/weaknesses.
• Beginning awareness of the impact of culture on self and others.
• Prepared to learn, be challenged, and challenge others.
