Job Description

Position Title: Climate Media Internship (Paid)

Overview:
The Years Project is offering a paid, remote internship program for 2025, seeking passionate and talented candidates to contribute to their climate media initiatives. This internship provides a professional environment to learn, explore career paths, and gain practical experience in climate communications and media production.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks designed to develop their skills in climate media and communications, including:
• Contributing to and helping to populate INSIDE THE MOVEMENT (ITM), YEARS’ weekly climate media toolkit.
• Scanning for, filtering through, and conducting analysis and synthesis of daily climate news and information.
• Monitoring climate content across various social media platforms.
• Writing and editing copy for ITM and other video projects.
• Transcribing original interviews and accurately logging video footage.
• Collaborating actively in the writing and editing processes for both ITM and video projects.
• Participating in the organization’s Writers’ Room sessions.
• Assisting with digital maintenance, data entry, and quality control.
• Practicing skillful and effective communication in a professional setting.
• Engaging in a learning experience that explores various career paths within climate media.

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate or an undergraduate currently pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university.
• Majors/disciplines must include, but are not limited to, Environmental Sciences/Studies, Communications, Journalism, or Media/Digital Media.
• All applicants must possess prior experience related to the climate crisis and/or have experience aligned with YEARS’ work, specifically in creating effective content and communication strategies about climate change.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively via Zoom, Slack, email, and phone, as this is a fully remote internship conducted entirely online.
• Availability for an approximate total of 16-20 hours per week. These hours must fall within the windows of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility accommodated.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Compensation:
This is a paid internship position, offering an hourly rate of $16.50.
