About the Job
This opportunity is for a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern (OH T-Lines) for Summer 2026, based out of the Overland Park, Kansas office. It is a Full Time, temporary position specifically designed for individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
The internship is anticipated to run from May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026, with a flexible individual start date.
Your Impact (Key Responsibilities):
As an intern, you will play a supportive role in various engineering tasks, focusing on developing your technical, social, and ethical skills. Key responsibilities include:
• Learning basic principles of Transmission Engineering.
• Assisting with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Supporting the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assisting in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Completing assigned training.
• Exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
• Performing additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Important Note: There is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Required Qualifications (Who You Are):
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Currently actively enrolled in an accredited Civil/Structural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field, with a strong desire to advance skills relevant to WSP’s work and projects.
• Possess competent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
• Have basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with the following will be highly regarded:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil/Structural Engineering or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
• Successful completion of junior-level courses in structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design.
• Prior internship experience and/or leadership involvement on campus.
