About Job Description

Job Title: Civil Engineering Intern or Co-op
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This role is a key position supporting Langan’s collaborative team, focusing on site feasibility studies. The intern or co-op will have a valuable opportunity to expand their technical and professional knowledge by partnering directly with industry leadership on a variety of exciting land development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with the full lifecycle of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects, including planning, design, and permitting.
Preparing and modifying various engineering documents such as reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans. This will involve using engineering and design software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as other equipment.
Analyzing various data sources like reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data, and determining their impact on project planning and design.
Supporting zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, assisting with sidewalk cost estimations, and evaluating project feasibility based on data analysis.
Providing field inspection services as needed.
• Applying knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics.
Collaborating effectively with team members on project tasks and assignments.
• Performing other duties as requested.

Qualifications:
• Must be a student actively pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.
• Possess a working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D, along with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits, along with a valid driver’s license in good standing.
