Job Description
Job Title: Civil Engineering Intern
Location: Dallas office
Job Summary:
Langan is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join its collaborative team in Dallas. This role is crucial in supporting site feasibility studies, which may involve field work, technical report preparation and calculations, pre-construction conditions documentation, design plans, and specifications. The intern will have the unique opportunity to expand both technical and professional knowledge and experience by directly partnering with industry leadership on a diverse range of land development projects.
Job Responsibilities:
The Civil Engineering Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
• Assisting with the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects.
• Aiding in the preparation and modification of various engineering documents, such as reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans, utilizing engineering and design software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Effectively using reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on project planning and design.
• Supporting zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, assisting with sidewalk cost estimations, and determining project feasibility based on data analysis.
• Providing field inspection services as needed.
• Applying knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics.
• Collaborating with team members on project tasks and assignments.
• Performing other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Candidates interested in this internship should meet the following qualifications:
• Must be a student actively pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.
• Possess a working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Have the ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
• Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
