Job Description
Civil Engineer (Construction and/or Design Groups)
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Civil Engineer to join our construction and/or design groups. This role is ideal for a career-oriented individual looking to contribute to a successful firm.
Responsibilities
- Oversee roadway design and construction projects.
- Oversee projects in the field, ensuring successful execution.
- Utilize civil engineering software, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D, to prepare detailed design plans.
- Perform accurate engineering calculations for various project aspects.
- Support senior engineers with day-to-day tasks across multiple disciplined projects.
- Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other agencies.
- Manage multiple deadlines efficiently and produce high-quality work under tight schedules.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) designation or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam prior to start date.
- A solid understanding of AASHTO and ASCE standards and policies.
- Familiarity with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and local agency procedures is considered a significant plus.
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D software for calculating earthwork on construction projects. Experience gained in an academic setting is acceptable.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to provide reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel, including long drive times, occasional overnight trips, and working in rural or urban areas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States upon start of employment.
- Must be available for night work, weekends, and flexible scheduling as project demands require.
- Demonstrated soft skills: team player attitude, openness to feedback, adaptability, active listening, and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk five (5) miles or more in a day on a construction project site on uneven terrain.
- Capable of excessive standing, lifting, or carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull equipment as needed.
- Proficient use of a keyboard for design and administrative tasks.
Work Environment
- Primarily in the field on construction project sites or site offices.
- Occasional travel required for meetings, training, and events.
