Overview

Under general supervision, this position performs monetary and licensure/permit processing functions of average difficulty within the Revenue Processing Center. This is the designated working level classification within the C&I Revenue Processing Specialist series. The Revenue Processing Center in the Department of Commerce and Insurance is responsible for processing a significant variety and high volume of applications and fees for reconciliation. An employee in this class will regularly process payments and permit/license applications into internal databases to reconcile and deposit incoming revenue. Key duties also include processing incoming mail, servicing payments and documentation from incoming clients, and assisting walk-in customers. This role is distinct from the C&I Revenue Processing Specialist 1*, which operates at a learning/training level, and from the Fiscal Director, who functions in an oversight program capacity.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or college credit hours equivalent to an associate degree AND two years of experience in financial customer service, data entry, revenue processing, or financial analysis.

Substitution of Experience for Education:

  • Three years of qualifying full-time experience in financial customer service, data entry, revenue processing, or financial analysis may be substituted for the required education.

OR

  • Experience equivalent to one year experience as a C&I Revenue Process Specialist 1*.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates the Regulatory Board and Fire Prevention licensing and permitting process by receiving payments and uploading them into the licensing database.
  • Provides customer service at the cashier window by greeting the public and receiving cash, checks, or credit cards to process with appropriate databases.
  • Receives all non-licensing database payments from every program area of the Department and processes them into appropriate databases for deposit.
  • Reconciles daily incoming checks to daily deposited checks.
  • Conducts calls to collect payments for the fire electrical permit section. Contacts appropriate parties as designated by regulatory boards and the legal department to ensure appropriate services are provided and met.
  • Processes money move requests from divisions within the Department that utilize revenue databases.
  • Prepares, separates, and distributes daily incoming mail and packages.
  • Reconciles and submits daily bank deposits.
  • Processes Treasury corrections as needed and re-allocates money as requested by program areas.
  • Creates applications and permits to submit to various regulatory boards for their use. Maintains relevant skill and knowledge needed to build various applications per different specialty.
  • Processes and updates received refunds in internal databases.
  • Works with Treasury and various boards to resolve issues with disputed checks, payments, and licensures to ensure that all licensure criteria have been met.
