Child Support Officer II | Goodwill Houston

What You’ll Actually Do
• Documentation: Prepare documents relating to legal and administrative actions required to establish or enforce child support orders.
• Negotiation: Negotiate lump sum payments from noncustodial parents who owe past due child and medical support.
• Monitoring: Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement action(s).
• Case Actions: Document all actions taken on a case using relevant agency tools, including the Texas Child Support Enforcement System (TXCSES) and various case/court documents.
• File Management: Review and maintain the accuracy of child support virtual files within the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository, and determine cases eligible for closure.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Career level: Entry-Level. Candidates must have a graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. A strong foundation of knowledge in child support laws, policies, principles, and practices, as well as investigative practices and techniques, is required.
• Experience: Experience in interviewing and collections, specifically related to child support cases. The organization allows for education and experience to be substituted for one another, providing flexibility for qualified candidates.
• Skills: Skill in conducting interviews and investigations, proficiency in the operation of computers and applicable computer software, and the ability to detect and resolve error conditions. Additionally, candidates must possess strong abilities in selecting and transcribing data, and communicating effectively.
