About the Role
This is a validation internship within the Chassis Systems Software team, a group of software, mechatronics, and vehicle dynamics engineers. The team works on challenging problems spanning safety-critical software, embedded systems, motor controls, electronics actuation, and vehicle dynamics. This role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and building validation tools that enable rapid algorithm development, testing against real-world data, performing regression testing, and simulating physics-based models to support the team’s mission of shipping safety-critical code at high velocity to millions of vehicles.

What You’ll Do
• Create and develop automated Software in the Loop (SIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) validation infrastructure to enable reliable, efficient, thorough, accurate, and repeatable tests
• Develop and execute automated regression test suites for safety-critical chassis software
• Continuously analyze and improve regression test suite coverage
• Create and execute board level test plans to expose weaknesses or faults

You’re a Good Fit If You
• Are currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between December 2026 – December 2027
• Have excellent proficiency in Python or C
• Have knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration
• Are a meticulous, detailed-oriented engineer, who thrives on finding that elusive bug in a corner case, who enjoys automating with software, and loves hands-on electronics builds
• Are an actively enrolled student in an academic program (recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions)
• Are able to work 40 hours per week on-site (International Students: please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying)

Bonus Qualifications
• Experience with Rust
• Scripting skills in other common languages (Perl, Shell, Bash)
• Knowledge and experience with automation and build tools (Jenkins, Docker, SCons, Buck)
• Ability to read and review electronic circuit schematic

Role Highlights & Compensation
• Expected start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2027 if available and there is an opportunity to do so
• Minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site
• Expected compensation: $42.07 – $58.89/hour + benefits
