About the Internship

The Central Sterile Processing Trainee position is a trainee position that enables participants to meet the requirements for the Central Sterile Tech position. The position provides work experiences and training that will coincide with the learner’s course of study in a Sterile Processing program.

Essential Internship Duties

• Conducts soiled pickup rounds for used instruments from floor units and delivers sterile items to those same areas.
• Unloads case carts in the decontamination area and sends carts through the cart washer.
• Offloads the cart washer and delivers clean carts to the staging area.
• Offloads washer carts and assists with prioritizing as directed
• Builds/stages rigid containers
• Assists with daily department cleaning, set up, and restocking

Minimum Currently pursuings

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current enrollment in a Sterile Processing program.
• An interest in learning about Central Sterile and instrumentation operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as ask for clarification if instructions are not understood.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic proficiency with computers and able to learn new software rapidly.
