Job Description
Apple is looking for an energetic Engineering Project Manager to support exciting projects within their HW Technology organization, specifically focused on the development of battery solutions for a wide range of Apple products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lithium-based rechargeable cells and be passionate about pushing the boundaries of material, packaging, and analytics development to create better batteries. They should also have a working understanding of battery cell design and manufacturing to drive and implement a plan from concept development to build management to product integration.
The Battery Technology EPM will lead a multi-functional team of battery, chemical, system, and manufacturing engineers, using their technical background to identify, assess, and communicate project risks and issues. They will facilitate communication and provide status updates across a wide range of individual contributors to executive management. In addition, they will drive day-to-day program activities to meet overall program objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing project plans, managing, tracking, and reporting progress to plan, driving solutions to address any identified gaps.
• Identifying and prioritizing project tasks and risks, leading engineering discussions and decisions on critical system parameters.
• Driving day-to-day activities, including build management, to meet overall project objectives.
• Identifying and engaging multi-functional collaborators for project definition decisions.
• Communicating status and the big picture to the project team and executive management.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Industry experience (preferably Battery or Consumer Electronics) of taking technologies from concept definition to mass production.
• Technical project management experience in material development, mechanical design, simulation, or manufacturing process development.
• Demonstrated competence in working in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment, with a willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience.
• Experience in setting up project plans, anticipating potential roadblocks, and reacting proactively to mitigate against risks or impacts.
• The ability to comprehend, communicate, and manage complex design tradeoffs.
• Understanding of and comfort with rapid development cycles, remaining flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity.
• Proficiency in multi-tasking both short-term and long-term activities.
• A BS in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, plus 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
• Experience with lithium ion or lithium polymer battery cells.
• Experience in lithium-based battery technologies.
• Knowledge of current innovative production processes applicable to lithium rechargeable cells.
• Experience in working with suppliers to develop and qualify batteries.
• Experience with modeling and simulation work.
This role offers a competitive salary between $132,300 and $241,500, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
