The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive, hands-on experience within the fast-paced wireless and technology industries. Interns will gain an in-depth understanding of the business through field experience and business projects, allowing them to see where they fit within the company and help build EchoStar’s brand while building their own.
Interns will collaborate with teams across EchoStar to drive innovation. It is a 10-week, in-person, paid hourly experience, with eligibility for overtime. Each intern is assigned business project(s) to complete over the summer and will present their results to leadership and peers. A dedicated manager supports each intern in the execution of their project. All internship opportunities are located in Denver, CO, unless otherwise specified.
Job Description: Causal AI & Data Science Intern
EchoStar is seeking a Causal AI & Data Science Intern for an exciting opportunity located at their office in Littleton, CO.
Key Responsibilities:
The intern will primarily focus on two main areas:
1. Causal Analysis & Statistics:
• Assist in analyzing the results of marketing and pricing changes using robust statistical methods. This includes examining pre-trends and control groups to accurately determine the “true lift” (the actual impact of the changes).
• Help validate EchoStar’s “Causal Engine” by performing diagnostic checks, essentially “stress testing” the underlying mathematical models to ensure the AI’s insights are reliable and not “hallucinating.”
2. Economic Modeling & Reporting:
• Support the development of “Uplift Cards,” which are standardized reports designed to translate complex statistical data into easily understandable financial metrics, specifically Net Present Value (NPV).
• Prototype Python scripts to calculate fundamental financial metrics such as “Payback Period” or “Lifetime Value” based on experimental data derived from their causal analyses.
• Analyze historical data to identify and understand patterns related to customer retention and churn.
Skills, Experience, and Requirements:
Education and Experience:
• A GPA of 3.3 or above is required.
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field of study.
• Candidates must have 60 credit hours completed by May 2026.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a pre-employment screen, including a reference check, criminal background check, and a possible drug test.
• Strong Python skills are essential, particularly with popular data analysis libraries such as pandas, numpy, and scikit-learn.
• A solid understanding of statistical concepts including regression, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals.
• Familiarity with Econometrics or Causal Inference concepts (e.g., A/B testing, Difference-in-Differences) is a significant advantage, though not strictly required.
• The ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• A creative mindset for approaching and solving open-ended analytical problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in presenting information to various audiences.

Compensation and Benefits:
• The compensation for this internship ranges from $18.00/Hour to $24.00/Hour.
