Catering & Events Intern

Location: 435 N Garland, suite 209 ARKU Fayetteville, AR

Schedule: To be determined based on class schedule and business needs.

Requirements: Hospitality majors preferred.

Pay Range: $13.00 per hour.

General Description:

The Catering Intern will work closely with the Senior Catering Manager at the University of Arkansas to gain valuable experience in the catering industry. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in both the sales and operations aspects of catering. You will have the opportunity to interact with clients, coordinate event details, and learn proper event setup and execution.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and organizing events
• Help with event setup and breakdown
• Complete safety training for proper lifting techniques
• Assist the culinary team in developing custom menus for events
• Coordinate with vendors (rentals, florists, bakeries, etc.)
• Assist with staff scheduling
• Market catering services both on and off campus
• Assist with inventory management
• Participate in staff training on catering standards
• Contribute to maintaining high service standards

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Customer service experience
• Undergraduate student status
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Professional demeanor
• Proficiency in computer programs and office equipment
• Experience with Macs and PCs
• Interest in areas such as sustainability, farm-to-fork practices, quality assurance, current catering trends, menu development, and contract food service management
