Junior Category Manager-1 | Circle K

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Circle K. Circle K is a large retail organization focused on convenience stores, managing diverse product categories across its business units. This position is crucial for supporting Category and Merchandise Managers, ensuring efficient category operations, and using data-driven insights to inform critical business decisions. The Junior Category Manager contributes directly to achieving financial and key result area targets by maintaining product availability, optimizing pricing, and executing promotional strategies.

The TL;DR

• Mission: To support efficient category management, analyze data for critical business decisions, and assist in day-to-day category operations to achieve financial and key result area targets.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Generate, analyze, and interpret large datasets to inform business decisions and manage categories efficiently.
• Vendor Relationship Management: Act as the primary local vendor contact, addressing issues related to item setup, pricing, costs, product logistics, and in-stocks.
• Promotional Campaign Execution: Plan, track, and execute vendor and operations sales incentives and contests, collaborating on pricing and promotional activities.
• Assortment & Planogram Support: Analyze and provide recommendations to Category and Merchandise Managers regarding local planogram assortment, planning, and process.
• Operational Merchandising Support: Travel occasionally for in-store merchandising to support the operational team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, management, business economics, or a related field preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted.
• Experience: One to three years of work experience preferred. Retail experience is preferred, but not necessary.
• Skills: Detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple projects effectively, strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Bonus: Radical curiosity regarding retail and market changes. Willingness to travel up to 60% and possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
