2027 Summer CAS Internship – West Des Moines | UHY-US

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at UHY-US, located in West Des Moines, IA. UHY is one of the nation’s largest professional services firms, providing audit, tax, consulting, and advisory services primarily to dynamic middle-market clients. This role is crucial as it offers the intern the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the world of client accounting advisory services. The intern will contribute to accurate financial reporting and gain exposure to real-world accounting practices and client interactions for a diverse clientele.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling various financial accounts, ensuring both accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Support the preparation of essential financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and other relevant reports for clients.
• Data Analysis & Insight: Collaborate directly with senior accountants to analyze financial data, identify trends and discrepancies, and contribute to providing valuable insights.
• Client Interaction & Support: Participate in client meetings and interactions to gather necessary financial information, understand client needs, help address inquiries, and provide fundamental accounting assistance.
• Documentation & Learning: Maintain organized and accurate documentation related to all accounting activities, ensuring adherence to firm standards, and actively participate in training sessions to expand accounting knowledge and skills.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university, actively pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. A High School Diploma or GED or High School equivalent certificate is also required.
• Experience: Possess 0 – 1 year of relevant experience in an accounting or finance-related capacity, demonstrating foundational exposure to the field.
• Skills: Capability to assist with financial account reconciliation; ability to accurately input and verify financial data using accounting software; foundational skills in supporting the preparation of various financial statements; basic competence in data analysis to identify trends; and effective participation in client interactions for information gathering and support.
• Bonus: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred, indicating academic achievement in relevant studies.
