Job Description:
The CAS Intern (Client Accounting Services Intern) position at Olsen Thielen offers a hands-on opportunity to kickstart a career in public accounting. The intern will gain direct experience, learning from experts while working with a diverse range of clients across various industries.
Key Responsibilities and Contributions:
• Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Client Collaboration: Work directly with clients to prepare month-end financial reconciliations, statements, forecasts, and budgets.
• Payroll Assistance: Assist with payroll tasks, including tax filings, payments, and audits, while learning about compliance standards.
• Client Support & Education: Support clients through accounting education, software training, and problem-solving, helping them improve bookkeeping processes and develop best practices.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the team to produce documentation, meet deadlines, and maintain professional standards.
• Tax Exposure: Gain exposure to basic tax forms and assist in information gathering for tax preparation.
Skills Gained Through the Internship:

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage Intacct.

Work Environment and Reporting:
The internship offers flexibility, allowing work in the Roseville office and potentially at client locations within the Twin Cities metro area. The CAS Intern will report directly to CAS leadership and staff in charge of the client relationship, ensuring mentorship and guidance throughout the experience. The role may require being adaptable to overtime during busy periods.
What Olsen Thielen is Looking For (Qualifications):
• Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics, with at least four completed accounting courses.
• Academic Record: A strong academic record, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP principles and bookkeeping practices.
• Skills: Excellent organization, time-management, and critical thinking skills.
• Communication: Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities with a strong client-focused approach.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and able to collaborate effectively in a team while managing independent tasks.
• Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
• Travel: Willingness to travel locally within the Twin Cities metro area.
