Job Description:
INTERN TITLE: Calvary Kids AV/Tech Intern
DEPARTMENT: Family Ministry: Calvary Kids
REPORTS TO: Calvary Kids Creative Assistant
DAYS/HOURS: Wednesday-Sunday (15-20 hours)
LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale Campus
Job Overview:
The Calvary Kids AV/Tech Intern will assist the Calvary Kids Creative team in shepherding, discipling, and developing Tech Team volunteers. This role involves preparing AV elements for weekend services and skits, scheduling volunteers, filling in for tech directors as needed, leading pre-service team huddles, assisting with service setup and tear down, and connecting with volunteer tech directors.
Responsibilities:
• Assist Calvary Kids Creative team in shepherding, discipling, and developing Tech Team volunteers.
• Prep AV elements for weekend Large Group services and skits, (Lighting design, sound effects, ProPresenter, etc.).
• Schedule volunteers.
• Fill in for tech directors as needed.
• Lead pre-service team huddles.
• Assist with service set-up and tear down.
• Assist with rehearsals.
• Connect with volunteer tech directors weekly (in-person or digitally).
• Attend monthly volunteer Creative Team Hangs (may be asked to be a table leader).
• Attend monthly Creative Team meetings (Tyler Cavalli, Nicholas Kalb, and other creative interns).
• Meet weekly with Creative Assistant (Tyler Cavalli).
• Perform other department-related tasks as needed and assigned by Creative Assistant (assisting with special events, attending department meetings, etc.).
Learning Goals:
• Spiritual Formation & Leadership: Deepen personal faith, reflect on the impact of ministry on personal faith, grow as a spiritual leader for children, model Christ-like behavior, and communicate biblical truths in age-appropriate ways.
• Child Development & Ministry Skills: Understand age-appropriate ministry approaches, learn about different developmental stages, tailor lessons and interactions, build effective lesson planning and teaching skills, and use various methods to engage kids (storytelling, crafts, games, music).
• Teamwork & Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with children and families, learn names, stories, and prayer needs, assist in creating a welcoming environment, collaborate with volunteers and staff, and learn to support and lead volunteers.
• Program Development & Administration: Learn the behind-the-scenes of children’s ministry, assist with organizing events (e.g., Christmas Play, Kids Conference), understand safety policies and logistics, evaluate and improve ministry experiences, and gather feedback from various stakeholders.
• Discernment & Calling: Explore vocational calling and ministry fit through journaling, reflection, and regular meetings with a mentor.

Work Schedule:
• Wednesday: 9am – 5pm (flexible hours)
• Thursday: 9am – 5pm (flexible hours, Staff Huddle from 9:00am – 10:30am)
• Friday: 9am – 5pm (Intern Cohort from 9am – 2pm)
• Saturday: 1pm – 8pm
• Sunday: 7:30am – 2pm
Additional Time Commitments:
• Rehearsal/set up (3 hours a week)
• Attending/Leading meetings (1-2 hours a week)
• Creative task fulfillment (3-4 hours per week, or as needed)
• Monthly Volunteer Creative Team Hangs (2 hours a month)
• Monthly Creative Team Meetings (1 hour a month)
• Connecting weekly with Creative Assistant (30 mins a week)
• Other department related tasks (2-3 hours per week)
• Intern Cohort (5 hours per week)
Note: Hours may vary, and the role may require bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods, lifting, pulling, pushing, and/or moving up to 35 lbs.
