Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) is the largest of New Mexico’s 89 school districts, serving about a fourth of the state’s public school students in 143 schools scattered across 1,200 square miles. APS is the largest employer in Albuquerque, providing full-time jobs for more than 11,000 people, including about 5,300 teachers.
Summary of Position
We are seeking an individual to:
• Assist introductory CAD Engineering students with 3D modeling and dimensioning drawings
• Assist the CAD Engineering instructor with running 3D printers, organizing tools, and preparing materials for design problems
• Assist the CAD Engineering instructor with pre-reviews of design work submitted by students in the introductory CAD Engineering class
Hard Skills
• Enrolled in High School or GED
• Currently enrolled in or have completed CAD Engineering 4
• Recommendation by CAD Engineering Instructor
Soft Skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Organized student with a positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn
• Attention to work rules and deadlines
Exposure & Training provided through internship
We will teach you how to evaluate student work, effectively communicate how to correct the mistakes, the students made on their work, and how to serve as a mentor to the CAD Engineering students.
Working and Physical Conditions/Onboarding Requirements
Please speak to your SEL Teacher/Advisor/Mentor regarding working and physical conditions at your intern site. You will also be required to sign and upload a W-9 and Parental Permission form. In addition, you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non-Disclosure and Internship agreements. As part of your application, you will be expected to fill out your emergency contact information, school, and other personal information as required by Albuquerque Public Schools Work-Based Learning programs and the New Mexico Public Education Department. Failure to do so or omission, or erroneous information will result in your application being rejected.
