<h3>Our Day in the Life of a Buying Intern</h3>
<ul>
<li>Support the buying team within one of our divisions in <strong>merchandise selection, negotiation, and pricing</strong>.</li>
<li>Assist in <strong>planning and coordination of product availability</strong> for advertising and promotion.</li>
<li>Assist in <strong>assortment and category planning</strong> to meet customer demand.</li>
<li>Prepare <strong>trend boards for strategy meetings</strong> by researching trends to plan for seasonal buys.</li&
<li><strong>Update and track purchase orders</strong> to ensure timely delivery.</li>
<li><strong>Travel to market visits 1-2 days per week</strong> to meet vendors and assist in selecting and negotiating competitively priced products that meet customer demands.</li>
<li>Participate in <strong>competitive shopping visits</strong> and assist in identifying product opportunities, labels, and trends.</li>
<li><strong>Collaborate for success</strong> within the department, working with various functional areas for input, ideas, and assignment execution.</li>

<h2>You’ll Come With</h2>
<ul>
<li>Currently <strong>pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field</strong> (Merchandising and/or Business).</li>
<li><strong>Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree between December 2026 and August 2027</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Affinity for retail math, product/merchandising</strong>, and a desire to build a career in Buying.</li>
<li><strong>Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs</strong> with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.</li>
<li>A <strong>data-driven problem-solver</strong> who can build and maintain productive partnerships by living Burlington’s core values.</li>
<li>A <strong>sense of curiosity, adaptability, and courage</strong> to always be a student of the business.</li>
<li>Ability to <strong>think critically with high attention to detail</strong>, and strong listening, oral, and written communication skills.</li>
<li>A <strong>self-starter who takes initiative</strong> with a sense of curiosity, adaptability, and courage to always be a student of the business.</li>
<li><strong>Ability to travel frequently/regularly</strong> as required for business-related activities such as vendor appointments, trade shows, and competitive shopping – mostly within the Greater Los Angeles area.</li>

<p><strong>Please note:</strong> Our offices are located in Los Angeles, California, and reliable transportation is required as it is not easily accessible by public transportation. Buying teams regularly travel to market visits and various other locations for market research and competitive shopping. You may need to travel to area stores that do not align with public transportation schedules.</p>
