MLB Players, Inc. (MLBPI) is the for-profit corporate subsidiary of the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). Its primary function is to manage all commercial activities related to the Major League Baseball Players Association, specifically by bringing to market products and services that feature the publicity rights (name/image/likeness) of MLB Players.
With over 100 global partners, MLBPI negotiates agreements to ensure a diverse range of Player-featured products are available to fans. The scope of its business is broad, encompassing licensing, sponsorship, media, events, and beyond. Job Description
BUSINESS INTERN
Overview:
This role is for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Intern sought to provide support to both the Licensing and Sponsorship teams at MLBPI. It is specifically designed for recent college graduates who are keen to gain hands-on experience within the sports industry, with a particular focus on licensing, sponsorship, and player marketing.
Responsibilities:
• Licensing:
• Conduct market research, trend analysis, and social media monitoring to identify potential opportunities in the licensed merchandise sector.
• Assist with the coordination and tracking of Player licensing agreements.
• Provide support to the Quality Assurance team by reviewing and approving licensee artwork and marketing material submissions.
• Contribute to special projects, prepare license presentations, maintain an active licensee tracker for renewals and new agreements, and handle other ad-hoc assignments.
• Player Marketing:
• Circulate clearance notices to agents to prevent conflicts with sponsor activation programs for Players.
• Support the Quality Assurance team by reviewing and approving licensee artwork and marketing material submissions.
• Sponsorship:
• Conduct research on MLB player sponsorship activity, trends, and social performance.
• Assist in building sales narratives by creating PowerPoint decks and player-led storytelling slides.
• Support the compilation of player marketing highlight reels by gathering brand activity and social media engagement data.
Required Qualifications:
• Recent college graduates only with a record of excellent academic achievement.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• A detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills.
• Possession of a passion for and understanding of everything baseball, especially MLB players.
• Strong writing skills, excellent communication abilities, and a team-player mentality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Reporting Structure:
The Business Intern will have a dual report assignment to the Vice President, Licensing and the Vice President, Sponsorship & Partnerships.
