Business Intelligence Intern | ArcBest

The Tone:
This is a temporary, hourly internship at ArcBest, likely located in Fort Smith, AR. ArcBest is a multibillion-dollar integrated logistics company that keeps the global supply chain moving through its comprehensive suite of transportation and logistics solutions, including ground, air, and ocean services, as well as managed logistics strategies and moving services. This role is crucial for empowering ArcBest and its subsidiaries to make informed business decisions and shape strategic direction, contributing directly to optimizing customer supply chains. The intern will gain hands-on experience by completing descriptive analytical reports and dashboards across a wide variety of organizational subjects, working within ArcBest Technologies to deliver custom-built solutions and advanced analytics.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Requirements & Design: Analyze user requirements for business intelligence solutions, design functional specifications, estimate project effort, and meticulously document user requirements for data, dashboards, and reports in close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Solution Development: Design, develop, deploy, and thoroughly document enterprise business intelligence solutions, leveraging common data architecture and implementing data optimization approaches to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Performance & Quality: Proactively test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and continuously improve the performance of business intelligence artifacts, ensuring high quality, reliability, and optimal functionality.
• Collaboration & Learning: Collaborate effectively with and provide support to business analysts across the enterprise, sharing best practice analytics strategies and techniques. Actively participate in special projects and take advantage of all offered training opportunities to continuously enhance your skills.
• General Support: Complete other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to supporting team objectives across the organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Analytics or a closely related field.
• Experience: Prior coursework or practical experience in data modeling, requirements analysis, business analysis, data storytelling, and visualization is preferred.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, SQL, and Power BI.
• Bonus: Knowledge of relational and multidimensional database designs, warehousing processes and designs, various business intelligence platforms, and software development technologies (with Visual Studio preferred). Competence in accuracy and attention to detail, application development tools, business intelligence principles, business performance management, interpersonal relationships, data/process/event/object modeling, producing results, and query and database access tools.
