Job Description: Business Intelligence Engineer Intern
This internship is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week, typically between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day.
Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after the internship concludes.
Locations: This internship is available at various Amazon locations in the United States, including:

You can provide your location preference during the application process, but placement is not guaranteed due to various factors like availability and business needs. Finalization of location and start dates will be provided at the time of the job offer.
Start Dates: Summer internships start in May/June 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build BI Solutions: Develop small- to mid-size business intelligence (BI) solutions, including data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, analyses, or components of larger solutions.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize well-defined requirements to build solutions that enable effective, data-driven business decisions.
• Deliver on Schedule: Deliver completed BI solutions on schedule.
• Data Structures: Create and populate data structures using schema definition languages (e.g., DDL, SDL, XSD, RDF).
• Code Development: Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects, automating manual processes where possible.
• Data Visualization: Utilize industry analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g., t-test, Chi-squared) to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Innovation: Invent, refine, and develop BI solutions to ensure they meet business and team goals.
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot data, analyses, and code; research root causes; propose solutions; and take ownership in resolving issues.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with data querying or modeling using SQL.
• Experience building and maintaining basic data artifacts (e.g., ETL, data models, queries).
• Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g., t-test, Chi-squared).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and commit to a 12-week maximum internship.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, computer science, computer engineering, information management/systems, business analytics, or other equivalent technical discipline with a conferral date between October 2025 – December 2028.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or R).
• Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design.
• Experience applying basic statistical methods (e.g., regression) to challenging business problems.
• Knowledge of how to improve code quality and optimize BI processes (e.g., speed, cost, reliability).
• Experience with relational and star schema data modeling concepts.
• Previous technical internship(s), if applicable.
• Ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with data presentation skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Enrolled in a Master’s Degree or advanced technical degree with a conferral date between October 2025 – December 2028.
Compensation:
Base pay for this position ranges from $35.63/hr in the lowest geographic market to $79.62/hr in the highest geographic market. Pay is determined by factors including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation, in addition to medical, financial, and other benefits.
