Job Description: Business Intelligence Engineer Intern
Summary
Amazon is seeking talented and motivated Business Intelligence Engineer interns to join their team and contribute to their mission of delivering exceptional customer experiences. As an intern, you will work on building small to medium-size business intelligence solutions, analyze data, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build BI solutions: You will be involved in building data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, and analyses to answer business questions.
• Data-driven decisions: Your solutions will enable effective, data-driven business decisions.
• Project delivery: You will be responsible for delivering your work on schedule.
• Data structure creation: You will create and populate data structures using various schema definition languages.
• Code development: You will write secure, stable, and maintainable code with minimal defects.
• Automation: You will automate manual processes where possible.
• Data visualization: You will use industry analytics visualization tools like Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, and statistical methods to present insights.
• Problem-solving: You will troubleshoot data, analyses, and code, research root causes, propose solutions, and take ownership of resolutions.
• Solution refinement: You will invent, refine, and develop BI solutions to meet business needs and team goals.
Day-to-Day Activities:
As a Business Intelligence Engineer intern, you will:
• Translate data into insights: You will use your analytical skills to turn raw data into actionable insights.
• Troubleshoot features and products: You will identify and resolve issues with Amazon’s features and products.
• Develop data models: You will create data models and use statistical techniques to analyze data.
• Contribute to data-driven decisions: You will provide data-driven insights that will help Amazon leaders make informed decisions.
• Work in a fast-paced environment: You will be part of a dynamic team that works on challenging projects.
Internship Experience:
As an Amazon intern, you will:

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Data querying and modeling experience with SQL: You should be comfortable working with SQL for data querying and modeling.
• Experience building data artifacts: You should have experience building and maintaining data artifacts like ETLs, data models, and queries.
• Analytics visualization tool experience: You should be familiar with at least one industry analytics visualization tool (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight).
• Statistical methods knowledge: You should have a basic understanding of statistical methods like t-tests and Chi-squared.
• Minimum age requirement: You must be 18 years of age or older.
• Full-time availability: You must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Current student: You must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a conferral date between October 2025 and December 2028.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Scripting language experience: Experience with scripting languages like Python, Java, or R is a plus.
• Data modeling and pipeline design knowledge: Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design is beneficial.
• Advanced statistical methods experience: Experience applying statistical methods like regression to solve business problems is desirable.
• Code quality and optimization experience: Knowledge of how to improve code quality and optimize BI processes is a plus.
• Relational and star schema data modeling experience: Experience with these data modeling concepts is advantageous.
• Previous internship experience: Previous technical internship experience is appreciated.
• Adaptability and communication skills: The ability to deal with ambiguity, work in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively is essential.
• Strong analytical skills: You should have strong analytical skills and the ability to present data effectively.
• Master’s degree or advanced technical degree: A Master’s Degree or advanced technical degree with a conferral date between October 2025 and December 2028 is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Base pay: The base pay for this position ranges from $35.63/hr to $79.62/hr, depending on the location.
• Total compensation package: Amazon offers a comprehensive total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
