Overview:
As a Business Intelligence Engineer Intern at Amazon, you will be part of a team that translates data into actionable insights, helping to improve features and products. You’ll contribute to solving complex technical challenges while working alongside industry-leading engineers.
Responsibilities:
• Build small- to mid-size business intelligence (BI) solutions, including data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, and analyses, or contribute to larger solutions.
• Use well-defined requirements to build solutions that support data-driven decision-making.
• Deliver end products on schedule.
• Create and populate data structures using schema definition languages like DDL, SDL, XSD, and RDF.
• Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects, automating manual processes where possible.
• Utilize industry analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g., t-test, Chi-squared) to deliver actionable insights.
• Invent, refine, and develop BI solutions to meet business and team goals.
• Troubleshoot data, analyses, and code, research root causes, propose solutions, and take ownership of resolutions.
Day-to-Day:
You’ll be involved in mining data, developing models, using statistical and visualization techniques, and contributing to data-driven decision-making. The role involves a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, allowing you to work on impactful projects alongside experienced engineers and mentors.

Eligibility:
• Experience with data querying or modeling with SQL.
• Experience building and maintaining basic data artifacts (e.g., ETL, data models, queries).
• Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g., t-test, Chi-squared).
• 18 years of age or older.
• Able to work 40 hours/week minimum for a 12-week internship.
• Currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, computer science, computer engineering, information management/systems, business analytics or a related technical field with a conferral date between October 2025 and December 2028.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or R).
• Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design.
• Experience applying basic statistical methods (e.g., regression) to business problems.
• Knowledge of code quality improvement and BI process optimization (e.g., speed, cost, reliability).
• Experience with relational and star schema data modeling concepts.
• Previous technical internship experience.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills and data presentation skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Enrolled in a Master’s Degree or advanced technical degree with a conferral date between October 2025 and December 2028.
Compensation:
The base pay for this position ranges from $35.63/hr in the lowest geographic market up to $79.62/hr in the highest geographic market. Pay is based on factors like market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a total compensation package, including equity, sign-on payments, benefits, and other forms of compensation, depending on the position.
