Job Description: Business Development Intern

This is an 8-week summer internship (June 9th – July 31st) offered as a hybrid role, combining 2 days per week in the New York City office and 2 days remotely. The internship focuses on providing firsthand experience in corporate development and fundraising within a leading non-profit.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Research & Identification: Help research and identify potential corporate partners and grant opportunities.
Materials Creation & Distribution: Support the creation and distribution of solicitation and stewardship materials (emails, presentations, proposals).
Outreach & Follow-up: Perform outreach and follow-up to secure meetings and initial interest from potential corporate partners.
Database Management: Provide administrative support for databases, entering and updating information.
Data Analysis: Assist in tracking and analyzing corporate donor development cycle data and metrics to assess effectiveness.
Donor Stewardship: Help coordinate corporate donor stewardship efforts (thank-you notes, recognition, follow-up communications).
Meeting Participation: Attend meetings and participate in brainstorming sessions related to corporate development strategy and goals.
Additional Tasks: Other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President, Business Development.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
Skills & Experience:
• Strong interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, and community engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with fundraising software or donor management tools is a plus.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Experience with marketing and storytelling is preferred.
• Passion for and/or connection to the Foundation’s mission is preferred.
• Interest and comfort level with sales and outreach is preferred.
• Proactive, self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently in a virtual setting.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines (with supervision).
