FilmFund is building the infrastructure to help independent filmmakers access capital and audiences faster. We are creating new rails for film financing and promotion by combining capital formation with audience activation.

The Role: Business Development Intern

We are looking for a Business Development Intern passionate about independent film to help us discover talented filmmakers and bring their stories to FilmFund.

You will actively research, identify, and connect with filmmakers who are developing compelling film projects and could benefit from FilmFund’s funding and distribution infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who loves cinema, understands the indie film ecosystem, and wants to be involved in the future of film financing.

What You Will Do

• Discover emerging filmmakers and film projects: Search across film communities, festivals, and platforms to identify talented independent filmmakers.
• Find projects in global film ecosystems, including:
  • Film platforms & databases:
    • FilmFreeway – where millions of filmmakers submit to thousands of festivals worldwide
    • ScreenFundr – database of film funding opportunities and filmmaker projects
  • Independent film platforms:
    • NoBudge – a streaming and discovery platform for micro-budget and indie films
  • Online filmmaker communities:
    • The D‑Word, a global community of documentary filmmakers with thousands of members
  • Film festivals and labs:
    • Aesthetica Short Film Festival
    • Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival
  • Other discovery channels:
    • Film schools and film programs
    • Film incubators and labs
    • Filmmaker Discord / Reddit communities
    • Kickstarter / crowdfunding film campaigns
    • YouTube / Vimeo emerging filmmakers

Your Responsibilities

• Research promising independent film projects globally
• Identify talented filmmakers with strong stories
• Reach out and introduce them to FilmFund
• Maintain a pipeline of potential projects
• Help onboard selected filmmakers to the platform
• Track outreach and partnerships

Who You Are

• Passionate about independent cinema
• Curious about film financing, festivals, and emerging filmmakers
• Strong research and outreach skills
• Comfortable communicating with creatives globally
• Organized and proactive

• Have festival or film production experience
