About The Port Authority
Founded in 1921, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey builds, operates, and maintains many of the most important transportation and trade infrastructure assets in the country. The agency’s network of aviation, ground, rail, and seaport facilities is among the busiest in the country, supports more than 550,000 regional jobs, and generates more than twenty-three billion in annual wages and eighty billion in annual economic activity. About the Internship
This internship focuses on business development and capacity building for Port Authority-certified diverse businesses: Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), Small Business Enterprises (SBEs), Service-Disabled Veteran-owned Business Enterprises (SDVBEs), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), and Airport Concessionaire Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (ACDBEs).
Responsibilities:
• Outreach Programming and Events: Supporting both virtual and in-person outreach initiatives.
• Budget Reporting: Assisting with the reporting of the outreach program budget.
• Business Recruitment and Engagement: Supporting business recruitment efforts, including meet-and-greets and customer engagement activities.
• Communications and Presentations: Assisting in the development of department presentations and other communications materials.
• Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Engagement: Attending D&I employee engagement road shows (when applicable).
• Research: Researching organizations that offer diverse subcontracting/supplier opportunities.
• Additional Projects: Undertaking additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Event Support: Attending outreach events focused on small business capacity building.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Strong interest in diversity and inclusion and human resources.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organization skills and experience working independently on multiple projects.
Internship Details:
• Start Date: Thursday, May 29, 2025
• Duration: Approximately 12 weeks, ending Friday, August 22, 2025
• Schedule: Full-time (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day), hybrid format.
• Compensation: hourly rate range: $18.07 to $30.31 (depending on internship type and school year). Ability to opt into the New York State and Local Retirement System. Access to Employee Business Resource Groups, facility tours, career panels, and social/networking events.
