Internship Overview
Hallmark’s Business and Marketing Internship program offers valuable opportunities for students to apply their classroom knowledge to meaningful projects in a corporate environment. You’ll work alongside professionals in your field on projects aligned with Hallmark’s business objectives. You will also gain exposure to Hallmark leadership, learn more about their products and initiatives, visit with employees and interns from other disciplines, and enjoy what life is like in the Kansas City metro area.
Available Internship Teams:
• Media and Analytics Targeting Intern: You’ll be part of the Hallmark Marketing Team, responsible for all strategic marketing plans to drive sales and increase category participation among existing and emerging consumers. This internship will provide the opportunity to facilitate robust paid media reporting, provide thought leadership around mobile app measurement, and gain insight into the evolving consumer identity and privacy landscape.
• Social Media Intern: You’ll work to refine the social content strategy for new and emerging audiences while working to drive awareness, engagement and conversions on Hallmark social platforms based on new business strategies. You’ll learn and apply the latest social best practices and trends to bring the brand to life everyday while working in collaboration with product and creative partners.
• Merchant Intern, Product Development: You’ll work alongside Senior Merchants to provide ongoing strategic and financial leadership and end-to-end product management for assigned product segment(s). This role ensures delivery of sales, profits, and retail performance goals while building Hallmark brand relevance and consumer appeal through the product categories managed. The internship will provide opportunities to act as the ambassador for consumer and product offerings by collaborating and facilitating alignment with a range of key partners like creative, insights and analytics, omnichannel development, and more across the broader organization as relevant.
• Shopper Marketing Intern: You’ll work to develop innovative strategies to engage consumers across various retailers and provide actionable recommendations to enhance marketing initiatives. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of how to utilize consumer insights to create effective marketing strategies and compelling content.
Program Details:
• Duration: 12 weeks, starting in late May and ending in early August.
• Location: Hybrid position, working both from Hallmark’s recently renovated headquarters building in Kansas City, MO, and from your summer residence within the KC metro area.
• Relocation Assistance: Some relocation and housing assistance is provided for interns whose permanent address is outside of the KC metro area.
Job Description:
As a Business and Marketing Intern, you will work on impactful projects rooted in business need. You will use your business acumen and problem-solving skills to understand Hallmark’s business priorities, the goal of your project(s), and to research, strategize, and develop a feasible solution for your project(s) or the problem at hand. In addition to your project work, you will have opportunities to expand your professional skill set, connect with corporate senior leadership, and engage in lots of fun social activities with your fellow interns!
Basic Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
• A graduation date of December 2025, May 2026, December 2026, or May 2027.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Pursuing a degree with a major in one of the following areas: Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Retail Management, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Economics.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and capacity to think critically.
• Ability to draw conclusions from research and data and translate into clear, concise recommendations.
• Aptitude to think strategically.
