About the Business Unit (US Consumer Services – USCS)

The US Consumer Services (USCS) team is responsible for managing American Express’s entire suite of consumer products, services, and experiences within the U.S. This encompasses a broad range of offerings, including:

• Premium card portfolios
• Cobrand card portfolios
• Cash back programs
• Lending portfolios
• The Membership Rewards program
• Global Travel & Lifestyle Services
• The Centurion Lounge network
• Global Dining and Resy businesses
• Outstanding marketing programs

The strategic objective of the USCS team is to cultivate a robust premium Card business. This business is differentiated by its “Membership” aspect, which is realized by effectively connecting Card Members to the things they value and enjoy.

About the Job (Summer Internship Role)

This role is for a summer internship within American Express, specifically supporting the US Consumer Services team. The exact job responsibilities will vary based on the specific team an intern is placed on.

How You Will Make an Impact / Broad Responsibilities:

Interns in this role may be involved in:

Partnering for Insights: Working closely with Digital Product and Business Unit teams to generate insights that inform product development and marketing investment decisions. This also includes providing actionable and insightful analytical solutions to help leadership evaluate and improve business performance.
Strategy Collaboration: Collaborating extensively with colleagues to develop and execute strategies informed by statistical, financial, and economic analysis.
Analytical Support: Providing analytical assistance to drive improvements in billing processes, revenue growth, profitability, and overall customer experience through diverse projects.
Data Integration: Incorporating new data sources and capabilities to support critical business decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program.
• Expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.

• A strong passion for enhancing the end-to-end customer experience, embracing innovation, and adopting a customer-first mindset.
• Keen curiosity about the digital world and the ability to collaborate effectively with technology and product partners.
• A problem-solver who is organized, possesses excellent attention to detail, and can manage multiple tasks while maintaining a focus on the broader picture.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to compile, analyze, research, and connect complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in high-pressure situations, skillfully balancing multiple priority assignments simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of communicating effectively at all organizational levels.
• Willingness to learn and master new systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
Knowledge of SQL, SAS, Java, Hive, Yellow Brick, or Python is a significant plus.

Salary and Compensation:

Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly.
Additional Compensation: A sign-on bonus is also offered.
