Senior Associate, Business Analyst – Global Capability Center | Alvarez & Marsal

The TL;DR

• Team: Member of the A&M Business Analyst team within the GESS group, which provides critical business support to the firm across various functions.
• Mission: Define project scope, identify business needs, assess risks, and translate business problems into clear, actionable requirements for development teams, ensuring solutions align with strategic objectives and prevent scope creep.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Requirements Leadership: Lead requirements analysis sessions with stakeholders to capture both functional and non-functional needs, ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives and strategic goals.
• Documentation & Management: Prepare and manage comprehensive business and functional requirements documentation, including sign-off procedures and version control across the entire project lifecycle.
• Process Analysis: Analyze current business processes and systems to document existing workflows, then outline future state impacts, breaking down high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop detailed test cases and plans based on approved requirements, actively support quality testing phases, and efficiently manage defect triage and enhancement requests.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Engage continuously with stakeholders to manage changes, provide updates, and maintain strong communication, while collaborating closely with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and global business teams to ensure smooth execution and alignment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in business-focused studies (Administration, Analytics, Management, Finance) or data and technology-focused studies (information technology, data science, statistics, computer science, information systems), or a related field (economics, project management).
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, specifically encompassing requirements gathering, third-party software selection, reporting, data analysis, and business process documentation, with a proven track record supporting large-scale, complex business or technical projects including corporate functional transformations.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business needs, model processes, and translate them into clear functional and non-functional requirements; proficiency in writing detailed test cases and testing documentation, as well as performing hands-on testing to validate solutions; expertise in various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall); excellent collaboration, relationship-building, and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to lead and coordinate efforts and simplify complex concepts.
• Bonus: Experience identifying patterns and trends through data analysis; ability to thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and perform well under pressure, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility; energetic, proactive, self-motivated, and independent, with a positive “can-do” attitude and comfort shifting priorities.
