Job Description, Detailed
This is an Onsite Internship for a Building Structural Intern within WRA’s Structural/Marine Group at their Blacksburg, VA office.
Role and Responsibilities:
Interns will join a collaborative team of engineers and architects. The role involves working on a variety of challenging projects, including:
• Buildings
• Industrial facilities
• Water/wastewater plants
• Waterfront facilities
Training Provided:
WRA has a strong mentoring culture and a focus on staff development. Interns will receive training in:
• Structural analysis and design for various building types and materials.
• Developing concept designs.
• Creating construction documents for clients across a broad range of markets.
Requirements:
• Education: Current enrollment in an ABET accredited Civil Engineering bachelor or master program, preferably with a Structural Concentration.
• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Software Experience (A Plus):
• Experience with structural design and analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD).
• Experience with drafting and modeling software (e.g., Revit and AutoCAD).
• Citizenship & Work Authorization:
• U.S. Citizenship required.
