Budget & Financial Analyst | Southeast Missouri State University

The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
• Budget Development: Develop and maintain operating budgets for University departments and affiliated auxiliaries.
• Financial Reviews: Provide regular updates and meet with personnel to review budgets and anticipated needs.
• Position Control: Maintain and monitor position control systems for University departments and auxiliary personnel.
• Financial Analysis: Support regular financial planning and analysis for unit/department level activities, as well as at college, divisional, and campus levels.
• Account Reconciliation: Prepare journal entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts to investigate and correct inaccuracies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a business-related field.
• Experience: Relevant experience in a public sector, non-profit, and/or government-related entity.
• Skills: Demonstrable proficiency in querying databases and generating reports using various programs including Microsoft Access and Excel; strong mathematical and analytical skills; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; commitment to customer service.
• Bonus: Experience in higher education; proficiency working with Ellucian Banner ERP.
