Job Description: KOMO TV Internship

This opening is for an intern candidate with a strong interest in the operational side of broadcasting at KOMO TV (KUNS Channel 4). It is not a direct hiring position by Lensa, but an internship promoted on behalf of Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Specific Areas of Exposure:

Master Control/NOC (Network Operations Center): This area is responsible for operating over 50 channels of multiple networks. Interns will gain exposure to controlling television broadcast equipment to transmit programs and commercials, including on-air switching, dubbing, and transferring programs/commercials from various multi-media platforms, and gathering satellite feeds for broadcast use.
Production Control Room: This involves working with equipment such as Ross Automation, Teleprompter operation, Studio infrastructure, robotic cameras, and audio equipment.

Candidate Profile & Skills:

• A strong interest in the technical side of broadcasting is essential.
Good communication skills are required.
• A passion for learning.
• The ability to work evening shifts, which may include weekends.
Strong writing skills and attention to detail are a must.

Internship Requirements:

Eligibility: Current students, recent graduates, and graduate students are eligible.
Preferred Candidates: Students entering their junior or senior year, or a graduate program, are preferred.
Work Commitment: Each intern is required to work up to 15 hours per week for a duration of 12 weeks.
Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation.
University Approval: Interns are required to show proof that the internship is approved by their University upon hiring.
Location: Interns are required to work in office at KOMO News in Seattle, WA.

Compensation:

The hourly compensation for this internship role is $20.76 per hour. The final compensation may be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
