Job Description

Brazing Technician

Location: Indianapolis, IN

This position supports overall manufacturing operations and requires a machine shop background. The ideal candidate will have the ability to fabricate and assemble both mechanically and electrically OEM equipment. This individual will carry out routine assignments and provide support in installation and troubleshooting as needed. This position also involves performing routine quality tasks associated with AS9100 compliance and handling of discrepant material.

Responsibilities

  • Brazing sub-assemblies.
  • Assembling components and sub-assemblies and installing them into units.
  • Laying out piping routes in the unit, including ensuring structural security.
  • Cutting all required piping and performing pipe preparation.
  • Collecting the required parts based on pick lists.
  • Following departmental procedures, company policies, and instructions.
  • Understanding, interpreting, and performing duties according to piping diagrams, prints, direction of flow, pipe sizing, and location of components.
  • Installing refrigeration components such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, motors, blowers, and pumps.
  • Installing and connecting piping and tubing for refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Performing pressure tests, evacuating, and charging refrigeration systems.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools such as tube cutters/benders, files, tube reamers, pressure regulators, brazing techniques, vacuum pumps, and refrigerant charging.
  • Reading and interpreting schematics (drawings or diagrams).
  • Decision-making and judgment abilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be “EPA 608 Universal” certified.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • 2+ years mechanical assembly experience, or related experience or degree preferred.
  • Certification to AWS B2.2/2.2M is a plus.
  • Refrigeration experience preferred.
  • 3+ years brazing assembly experience.
  • Recent graduates okay, but must be trainable and willing to learn.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and installation of refrigeration and heating systems.
  • Must be able to read basic and complexed diagrams, schematics, and/or diagrams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Flexible for possible transfers due to demand of work.

Work Environment and Mobility Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a loud, fast-paced manufacturing/production environment.
  • Must be able to work in heated or cooled confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in a loud production setting.
  • Extensive standing and repetitive hand motions required.
