Branch Sales Intern – United Rentals

As a Branch Sales Intern, you will gain invaluable skills and industry knowledge by immersing yourself in the sales process, spanning both inside and outside sales functions, with a continuous emphasis on customer service excellence. The ultimate goal for successful interns is to transition into a Sales Associate role upon graduation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in comprehensive safety training, ensuring adherence to personal protective equipment guidelines, safe equipment handling, and all safety policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the operational efficiency of the branch yard workflow, including equipment check-in, washing, and direct customer assistance.
  • Shadow both inside and outside sales positions to understand their respective roles, responsibilities, and United Rentals’ customer-centric approach.
  • Receive training on essential company systems, including RentalMan and Salesforce.com.
  • Actively participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings, ride-alongs, work sessions, conference calls, and WebEx meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations and sales initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Prior relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong presentation abilities.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and project components simultaneously.
  • Capable of working both independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive and a sense of urgency.
  • Must currently be pursuing a BA/BS degree in sales or a related major.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
