Bookkeeper | The Johnson Administration

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Johnson Administration, located in The Bahamas. The Johnson Administration is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team. This position is central to the financial operations, directly supporting the Accountant in maintaining precise financial records. The Bookkeeper’s efforts in managing accounts payables and receivables, accurate reconciliation, and timely processing of payments are fundamental to the company’s financial integrity and operational efficiency. This role ensures the company’s financial health and stability through meticulous record-keeping.

• Mission: Maintain accurate financial records and support the Accountant in managing all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliation.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), QuickBooks, Sage, similar accounting software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Management: Actively assist the Accountant in managing all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, including diligently following up on outstanding balances and payments.
• Payment Processing: Prepare and issue timely payments, utilizing methods such as cheques, bank transfers, or electronic payments, while also managing company utility payments and recurring operational expenses.
• Financial Reconciliation: Perform thorough bank and account reconciliations, meticulously identifying and resolving any discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
• Audit Support: Provide comprehensive support for financial audits by gathering, organizing, and presenting all necessary documentation.
• Financial Monitoring: Continuously monitor and track financial accounts, promptly reporting any identified discrepancies to maintain data integrity.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, providing a strong foundational understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Experience: At least 2 years of practical experience specifically in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting functions. Required proficiency in using accounting software, including systems like QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Skills: Demonstrated high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in all financial tasks, coupled with strong organizational and effective time management abilities. Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction.
• Bonus: Knowledge of local financial regulations and established business practices within The Bahamas, along with a proven ability to handle sensitive financial information with the utmost confidentiality.
