Bookkeeper | Kewadin Casinos

The Bookkeeper supports the Senior Accountant by meticulously managing journal entries, vendor payments, and bank reconciliations, which are critical for maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger. This position ensures the financial integrity of both gaming and non-gaming operations by processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and complying with regulatory standards. The role is also responsible for providing attentive, courteous, and professional service to all internal and external customers, reflecting the company’s commitment to service excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Daily Financial Audits: Perform daily audits and make necessary adjustments to accountability reports originating from all areas of the casinos, covering both gaming and non-gaming operations.
• Process Accounts Payable: Execute vendor payments by securing proper supporting documentation and authorization, and accurately issue or void checks in accordance with the established M.I.C.S. guidelines.
• Reconcile Financial Accounts: Conduct daily reconciliations of credit charges to bank statements, ATM Account transactions to the bank and general ledger, and specific asset and liability accounts within the general ledger.
• Handle Revenue and Liability Postings: Perform daily balancing and posting of specific revenue accounts from the previous business day, and bi-weekly recording and reconciliation of Dealer tips.
• Support Month-End Close & Compliance: Calculate and post month-end slot system data accruals for revenues, expenses, and liabilities, and review W-2G, 1042, and 1099 information daily to ensure compliance with IRS codes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Requires a High School Diploma or G.E.D., demonstrating foundational educational achievement for accounting principles.
• Experience: Prior experience working in an accounting office is preferred, providing practical exposure to financial operations.
• Skills: Must possess working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; demonstrate excellent communication skills for effective interaction in person, in writing, by telephone, and via email; capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; strong organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and manage workload efficiently; ability to work extended hours, various shifts, and with minimal supervision; problem-solving, mathematical, and reasoning skills; must maintain confidentiality.
• Bonus: Helpful knowledge of online banking and JD Edwards software; Native American preferred.
