About the Internship:
BMET I – ASSET MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
The Biomedical Equipment Technician I, under the direction and/or guidance of senior personnel, is responsible for ensuring that all clinical equipment technologies in assigned areas are operating safely and accurately. This involves performing safety checks, corrective and planned maintenance, calibrations, and repairs on all types of basic medical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. The BMET I provides support both on-site and remotely to hospitals, service center locations, or within an assigned territory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Respond promptly to calls from clinical departments and/or customers to evaluate and rectify valid operator complaints and concerns.
• Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic clinical instrumentation and equipment.
• Perform planned maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
• Diagnose, correct, and repair system and equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain an organized and functional working environment, ensuring tools and test equipment are calibrated and in good working order before use.
• Participate in assigned on-call services in accordance with contractual guidelines and/or departmental policies.
• Research and initiate orders for repair parts, working with the supervisor and/or the Technical Resource Center.
• Provide accurate and timely database management of the CMMS in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System and related policies and procedures.
• Schedule and oversee third-party service as necessary.
• Participate in huddles, meetings, seminars, training, workshops, and conferences as required.
• Learn, understand, and comply with all government, regulatory, industry, company, and client policies and procedures.
• Complete all required training.
• Perform other duties as assigned that are intrinsic to the successful operation of the account and the company.
Currently pursuings:
• Associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronic equipment technology, or military training preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Certification(s) preferred (e.g., CABT, A+).
• Entry-level experience servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital, clinic, or service environment as an intern, employee, contractor, or Co-Op.
